GAGA

Hey.
So it finally happened.
I was finally able to see for the first time my queen, Lady Gaga, perform on her artRave tour-- Shout out to my awesome friend Arden who picked up the tickets! We decided to dress up in our most elegant fashions for a night we knew we were never gonna forget.

Rave attire was the most appropriate for the night, so I summoned all 90s space fashion [ Zenon: Girl of the 21st Century, The Fifth Element] and came up with this dimension bending outfit.

Me and Arden. Paws Up!

These stick on rhinestones didn't last very long throughout the night. The minute I started to sweat these bad boys started to fall.

Once we got there, we walked around buying merch, getting drinks, and taking awesome photos with other little monster who came dressed to impress.

These guys also gave us some rave candy-- The bracelet I was given says "DNT U NO MY AZZ IZ FAMOUZ" <3

Then I met drag entertainer Cyon Flare, who was amazingly cool and we took a couple photos together

You can find Cyon on Instagram and Twitter---> @cyonflare

Yeah, we were pretty fucking high up. But! As long as I was in the same room with that women, I was satisfied.

We listen to the cutest K-Pop band, Pop Candy, who opened for Gaga, as well Lady Starlight who did a DJ set (of what all suspiciously sounded like the same song)

And then...

So Gaga slayed all with her inspiring words and amazing performance, I'm so happy fucking stoked I was able to go, I had so much fun meeting amazing people and fan-girling out to my beautiful goddess!

No Pane, No Gain

Hey.
So my new favorite pattern for the summer seems to be a form of plaid called  'Window Pane'. But the more I see the fabric, it seems to look less like window panes, and more like pool tiles to go with the high temp.

Originally a menswear pattern used on two piece suits, the plaid seem to shift into the perfect seasonal pattern for any outfit this summer.

Style Profile: Rami Shetty

   Rami Shetty
age: 22
hood: Notting Hill, London
area of interest: Film/Writing

Hey.
I'm back at Lauren's (when am I not here?), this time however I am accompanied by the incomparable Rami Shetty.  Londoner by birth and party animal by right, we met last year on 420 when I accidentally broke his roommate's bong stem. "I hated you for a while," He laughed. Although after seeing Rami at a couple more parties (hosting more than one event, himself), he learned to come around to my gracelessness and uncouth nature.

Although concentrating in film at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago,  Rami also focuses a lot of his time writing as well, often taking his real life events and scrawling them into literary pieces of art.

When did you start writing and film?
About 15, when I actually got my shit together... I went to boarding school...then when I was 16, my parents moved out of [our] house and I ended up having the whole place to myself while I was at boarding school; and they were around the world in different places. So, I had a lot of independence, and a lot of time to just mess about with it.

What do you write about?
I guess its very sort of Gonzo style-- I based a lot of it on my experiences traveling... But, I like to change the characters names and sometimes their personalities for serious legal reasons!

Where do you get inspiration from?
Honestly, I guess maybe a moment of quiet. Like when I'm traveling a lot, and when I got the music on. I just look at things, and then this whole new idea just ends up spreading through my head.

What are you wearing right now?
Levis, James Pierce, Timbalands, and a thrift store kick ass Hennessy jacket...Turns out they make them for the stockholders from LVMH, and this once from the 80s. Sick, right?

3 brands you love:
Saint Laurent-- absolutely love, Maison Martin, and when I try to go smart, I usually go for Lanvin.

Do you prefer luxury items or vintage items?
I prefer stylish items. It doesn't matter how expensive they are-- if it looks good, it looks good. Its not all about having the priciest shit. 'Cause sometimes people have more money then sense, and they end up walking out of the house looking like trash.

Okay, so we're gonna do a speed round, I'm gonna yell questions out and you just think about the first thing that comes to mind.
Oh dear god--I think about sex all the time...

Best Movie?
Casablanca-- no, I take that back. Laurence of Arabia.

Chinese or Mexican food?
Chinese.

Song stuck in your head right now?
It's a Pity by Tanya Stephens.

City or 'Burbs?
Neither. Countryside.

Where can we find you?

Day Tripp: Haus of Reign

Hey.
Tuesday I took a quick trip out of my dorm and down South Michigan to Haus of Reign. A little boutique located in the South Loop, Haus of Reign offers trendy chic clothes for women who like to change from business casual to nighttime cool, without having to change their entire look.

While browsing the shop, I fell in love their spring collection--which mixes monochromatic hues with graphic prints and an emphasis on minimal wear (It's all about black and white this summer). Carrying brands like BCBGMAXAZRIA and French Connection, the stores caters to women who look for a clean sophisticated on-trend look.

I was awesome enough to meet Rachel Popoola, manager of Haus of Reign. She explained that the store was split into two sections: The Polished Go-Getter, a women whose business savvy and fashionable skilled,  and The Free-Spirit, a women whose true to her bohemian nature-- at least in the clothes she wears. The beauty of the layout is that products from each side of the store can still be worn together to create an effortless look.

Their jewelry is also pretty awesome too. I think a young Hilary Banks from The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air would have a few of these items in her boudoir.

The Haus is going to be celebrating its first anniversary this July with a celebratory event in the making. Check out this awesome Chicago boutique in-store and on their website:

I wanna look like a 90s Calvin Klein Ad.

90s Calvin Klein Ads, from the Vogue Archives

Hey.
Here in Chicago, we have yet to see Spring-- in fact, we've yet to see a week where it has been consistently above 50 degrees. It was even snowing on Monday! So, I haven't really had the opportunity to switch out fall and winter clothes. But when I stumbled upon these old Calvin Klein ads from the 90s, I was majorly inspired by the simplicity of the clothes.

I've been restricting my colors, going for a more minimal look, I've even cut down on my layers. Black maxi-skirts/dresses are my shit, and playing with denim is my new obsession. I've also been really into sportswear and mesh-- mesh fabric is almost becoming something of a summer lace. I think I've always gone for a more over the top look in the past, now its time to play it simple.

And I was so against Normcore...

Asos Maxi-Dress, Here

Its still not nice enough to wear sandals here-- boots are kind of a must with all the rain.

1. Acne Oil Slick Boots $629, 2. Rose Gold Buckled Shoe $58, 3. Canvas Boots $68, 4. Dr Martens Devon Boots $169, 5. Adidas Low Top Originals $50

I've got to write paper due in the next 5 hrs,
Bye!
